Jackson, Ms. – The Southeastern men's cross country team combined for a first place finish at the Mississippi College Choctaw Open on Saturday.
Sophomore
Harry Wiggins was the first Lion to cross the finish line, posting a time of 26:41.29 that earned him 5
th place. Senior
Joseph LeGrange was close behind, finishing in 6
th with a time of 26:52.98.
"I'm really pleased with how well we performed," said Head Coach
Sean Brady. "Especially our guys."
Four other Lions finished in the top 25 for the men. Leo Moreno (28:06.98) earned 17
th place, while
Andrew Brouilliette (28:11.99) placed 19
th.
Stephen Cassingham (28:18.82) and
Wesley Brown (28:37.15) weren't far behind, finishing 21
st and 23
rd respectively.
Senior
Heather Fitzhenry once again was the top finisher for the women's side, earning 30
th place with a time of 21:49.98.
This was Southeastern's final event before Southland Conference Championships, and Head Coach
Sean Brady feels confident in the performances his runners can bring to conference competition.
"It's a great win to get right before conference," said Brady. "We just need to stay healthy this coming week."
The Southland Conference Championships will be held in Lake Charles on November 1
st.
