Hey! My name is Walker Mattox, and I am a runner at Starkville High School. I love running cross-country and track so much! Unlike most runners though, I have two sisters I compete against within my team. This can be very frustrating at times, yet very rewarding at others. I get down sometimes comparing myself to them. They are younger and very fast! One is always faster and the other is always close. I enjoy this at times, though! They push me to be the best I can be, and I am beyond grateful for that. I have been running a lot with my faster sister, Kate, lately. It has been great training. She helped me boost my base speed, which I deeply needed! I owe it to her and two other teammates for pushing me so hard in my base runs this track season. I improved a lot! I encourage anyone who wants to further improve to bump up his or her base. It wasn't until I did, that I saw such a vast improvement. Run with that person ahead of you! I would have never dreamed I could practice with Kate, but I got there! If I can do it, I promise that anyone can!
