Curt Knight – Jackson Academy – MAIS
This is a telephone interview with Curt Knight done a week before he runs in the Footlocker South Regional at Charlotte, North Carolina.
MS Milesplit – Curt you had a successful season this year and the Top Time in the Mississippi Milesplit 5000 meter Cross Country Invitational. Your 16:07 at the Frank Horton led the state. You also ran 16:29 at the Mississippi College Watson Ford Invitational topped some of the best from the Public Schools. Did you run faster this year?
Curt – Yes I ran 16:05 at the Columbia Academy Practice meet and have run under 16 minutes last year at a hand timed meet at Columbia Academy.
MS Milesplit – You also go into the Outdoor season as the Top ranked 2 miler in Mississippi. You also run the mile.
Curt – I prefer the 2 mile I really just run the mile for points for my school.
MS Milesplit – Let’s get a little information about you for college coaches out there who may be interested.
Curt – I am a Junior with a 3.54 GPA and a 24 on the ACT. I took the ACT last year as a Sophomore and plan to take it at least twice this year to get a better score. I love to run and that is my main interest. I train mostly by myself but have some good people making sure I do what is needed, Avery Ainsworth in Montgomery Alabama, my Cross Country Coach Roy Higgins and my Track Coach Jason Williams. In my spare time I love to be in the outdoors. I attend St Richard Catholic Church and want run Cross Country and Track in college.
MS Milesplit – Is there any special college that you would like to attend and what would you like to major in?
Curt – I really don’t have any particular college that I want attend. I would like to study engineering, maybe Chemical Engineering. So will look forward to running at a school that will let me follow that goal.
MS Milesplit – What are your goals for the rest of the year.
Curt – I want to run under 16:00 at Footlocker South and in track at least 9:45 or maybe 9:30 for the 3200 meters.
MS Milesplit – I am sure there are college coaches out there that will be looking forward to your Senior year and a chance to recruit you. Good Luck at Footlocker.
