Where are they going. Barclay Angle - Madison Central High School

MSTrack: Why did you choose Ole Miss?

Barclay: I have know for a long time that I wanted to attend school in state. There several reasons that I choose Ole Miss. Probably one of the biggest reasons was that I want to follow in the footsteps of my dad who went to Ole Miss and competed in track. He was a long jumper and I want to go and compete like he did. The second reason is that the Ole Miss coaches paid more attention to me that the other schools in state they really seemed to care.

MSTrack: What do you plan to study in college.

Barclay: I plan to study business in some form.

MSTrack: Now how about what you do at Madison Central.

Barclay: I have a GPA of 2.7 and an ACT score of 20. I also played football while attending Madison Central.

MSTrack: How about at home.

Barclay: When I go to church I attend Broadmoor Baptist Church. The other thing I like to do is play the guitar mostly just for myself.

MSTrack: What are your track goals for your senior season?

Barclay: I have 3 goals I want to try to achieve this season. First I want to Polevault 16'0" to 16'6".

Second I would like to Triple jump 48'0" to 49'0".

Finally I would like to run sub 15.0 in the 110 Meter Hurdles. At State I should be one of the top vaulters but the triple jump could be very competitive as there are several jumpers in the same range that I am. My goal is to make it to state in the hurdles then we will see how competitive I am. At Ole Miss I will be competing in the multi events like the decathlon. The past 2 years I have won the triple jump and last year the team won the over 6A championship. I think we have a good chance to repeat as champions this year.

I would like to talk about the influences in my track life. Of course my dad he has always supported my efforts by helping me to go compete in the Mississippi offseason in the summer and Indoor track. But other than my dad the biggest influence has to be Billy Lamb. He has been my polevault and triple jump coach since the 8th grade. I would not have gotten this far without his support and coaching.
