Cross Country Courses

I get calls all the time asking, "Coach are those times correct?" In some cases I can answer yes they are right I know that course. Other times I have to just say not sure about it. Case in point the times at the Hurricane Invitational. Lots of PRs especially in the boys race. I am willing to guess it is flat as it is on the coast but the rest I cannot answer. Was the weather good for running, when was the course measured and how was the course measured that is the real questions.

According to Coach Daigle he said that he knew that trail had been cleaned up and that if the sand was still packed the times could have been that good. Thanks Coach. Other fast courses we know of are Pontotoc, Hickory Flat, and Ocean Springs but those have been measured time after time and all three are flat. Let us know of other fast courses that you know are correct.

Tough Courses to run great times. Choctaw Trails especially after rain, Northeast Lauderdale, Clarkdale High School, Neely Farms and George County. Again coaches weigh in on the tough courses you have been to in Mississippi.

So the answer as to fast times? A lot of factors could be the reason but only those running and setting up the courses can tell. Maybe we need a field in the meet package on MileSplit that shows the last time a course was measured and how it was measured. Plus maybe we need a ranking system that the Coaches rank each course based on that particular weekend.
