Musings on the Top 10 MSMileSplit Boys

Brock Kelly, Tupelo Christian ran a personal record in his second meet of the season. Is he on track to beat 16 minutes? He could have a great season ahead in his junior year. Dylan Allen, Mooreville starts the season with a top 16:43 and I cannot wait to see what he does in his next race. Last years leader will be hard pressed to beat his junior year. Cole Benoit, Pearl River went to Alabama for his first race and came away with a 4th place. Not a bad start to the season. Clay Derrick, Oak Grove also went to Alabama and finished right behind Cole in fifth place. Clay is also poised for a great senior season.

Preston Burks, Hernando had a busy summer season and is not slowing down in cross country. He ran a personal record 16:56 at Myrtle so he is another senior poised to make tracks. David Adams, Pearl is not known to most because he runs for a talent rich team. David starts the season in sixth place overallin the state.

Grayson Childress, Brookhaven is the top freshman in the state at this point and can be proud of his 17:15 start to the season. I  hope he continues to improve and stay top ranked. Jacob Britt also from Brookhaven a junior is part of a top ranked team. He is the second junior ranked in the top 10. Austin Bourne, Brandon is a dedicated senior that keeps on improving and could have a breakthrough season.

Last but not least is Mason Watkins, Picayune. He is the third junior and appears in the top 10 for the first time this year. Another runner that could have a great cross country season.
