A Bottom Six Virtual Meet Plus Top Individual Performers
Hey there! It's me again, Coach Daigle, here to give you The Run Around. I wanted to take all the teams in The Bottom Six counties and pit them against each other in a virtual meet. Then I thought I'd give you some top individuals from our twenty-five schools to look out for as we head into the 'playoffs' of track season.
The schools in The Bottom Six are: George County, Bay High School, Hancock High, Our Lady Academy,
Saint Stanislaus, Biloxi, D'Iberville, Gulfport, Harrison Central, Long Beach, Pass Christian, St. Patrick, West Harrison, East Central, Gautier, Moss Point, Ocean Springs, Pascagoula, Resurrection Catholic, St. Martin, Vancleave, Pearl River Central, Picayune, Poplarville, and Stone.
On the boys' side, a virtual meet would look like this:

Personally, I think some of the best Track & Field is going on right now in the Bottom Six - or coast. Here are some of the top individuals from the above mentioned programs.
Girls first. Destini Pickens of Long Beach has an impressive sprint triple. She's the number one girl in the Bottom Six in the 100, 200, and 400. Her times are 12.23, 25.43, and 56.20 respectively. Also hailing from Long Beach is Brooklyn Biancamano with an impressive triple in the distance events. Her 3200 time is 11:10.41, her mile time is 5:06.1, and her 800 is 2:23.67. While we're talking distance, we can't forget Lina May of Vancleave. She's #1 in the Bottom Six in the 3200 with a time of 11:00.45. She's got the second best mile and third best 800 too.
Now let's look at the #1 team, Ocean Springs, and their girls. The hurdle duo of Roslyn Inabinette and Kaylee Foster is dangerous. Roslyn has posted a 16.15 in the 100, while Kaylee has clocked 16.64 in that same event and 47.94 in the 300. Mikyah Mack is a solid jumper for the Lady Greyhounds; she's got a triple of 35-2. Finally, another strong event for the Ocean Springs squad is pole vault, Emma Hunt is over 12 and Roslyn Inabinette is over 11.
Over at West Harrison High School, Deniyah Downs leads all jumpers in the Bottom Six in triple jump - she's gone 35-2.75. Alexis Morris leads all throwers in disc and shot, with marks of 33-6.5 and 113-4 respectively.
And now for the boys. D'Iberville's Cory Hawthorne's 10.89 in the 100 is impressive. As is Ahmad Gage's 22.38 in the 200. Gage's 400 time is even better, he's leading the pack with 50.08 - so close to breaking into the 49's. Ocean Springs is impressive in the 800 - the trio of Robert Hughes, Joseph Gallo, and Alexander Whyte lead the field at 2:05, 2:06, and 2:07 respectively. I bet they push each other hard in training.
The mile is another impressive event for the Bottom Six. All told there are 20 or so runners under 5 minutes. At the top of that list is Beck Guidry from OS with a 4:34.31. Alexander Whyte from OS is right behind him with 4:36.61. Picayune's Mason Watkins is third with 4:43.71.
Pearl River Central's Cole Benoit owns the two mile; he's trying to crack in the nines and is at 10:00.20 currently. Harrison Central's Chris Hudnall is blazing in the 110 hurdles, clocking in at 14.16. He's also recorded 40.68 in the 300 hurdles.
George County's Dylan Lawrence has an impressive mark in long jump - 22-3, Cameron O'Neal of Biloxi is right behind him with 21-8.5 while Gulfport's Derick Hall is at 21-8. The trio of Cory Meek, Michael Jordan, and Tamarcus Garrett from East Central, Biloxi, and Gulfport respectively are all at 6-4 in High Jump. Finally in Pole Vault, George County's Tyler Stansberry leads with a vault of 13-6 while William Weber and Taylor Necaise of Saint Stanislaus are both over 12 this season.
