Destini Pickens, Long Beach currently is ranked number two in the Class 5A 100 and 200 meter dashes. Plus she is ranked number one in the 400 meter dash. Add in the 4X100 where the school is ranked number one. She could score 26 individual and 10 relay points at State.
Brooklyn Biancamano, Long Beach is ranked number one in the 800, 1600 and 3200 meter runs. Plus she has run a leg on the number two ranked 4X800 meter relay. Her points are 30 individual plus 8 for the relay.
Between these two young ladies based on current standing they could combine to contribute 74 points to the team score at state. State Meets have been won by less points than that. Of course there are other events and it takes a full team to win a State Meet but these two are teammates that make a difference and make Long Beach a possible State Championship team. The great thing is neither one is a senior.
