The One and Only State Meet

All of your hard work. All of the hours spent training. All the mile repeats. All of the hill workouts. All the early Saturdays spent at a meet. All of the stretching and sprints. All of the teamwork. All of the high fives and top finisher t-shirts. All of your dedication and perseverance. All of the memories. All of it will pay off this weekend.

The State meet has finally crept up on us! The 2-4-6A race will be held on Saturday, and the 1-3-5A race will be held on Monday at Choctaw Trails in Clinton. I have been looking forward to this meet all season, and I'm ready to put everything I've got left into the race! Choctaw Trails is always a challenging course. There is a good mix of hills throughout the race and a nice uphill finish. The competition will be fierce in many of the races, and people will be pushing it to their limit. I encourage you to do the same. This is your last chance this season to make it count. Make yourself proud, and run hard.

Where we last left off in Water Valley action, we headed back to Pontotoc for the South Pontotoc Invitational. In that race we had three top finishers: Maris LindseyLillian Lindsey, and myself. Maris finished 22nd in the JH Girls 2 mile race with a time of 17:08. Lillian ran a 21:47 in the 1-3A Varsity girls race and placed 2nd overall. I finished 3rd overall in the 1-3A Varsity boys race and finished with a 18:26. Lillian, Dante, and myself will be traveling down to Clinton on Monday.. Our lone senior, Dante Ramirez, will finish out his cross country career after this race. Boy, will we miss Dante! Congratulations on all your hard work.

Good luck to anyone running this weekend. And I will leave you with a motivational quote from my good friend Ashanti Brown. "I don't understand how y'all run that long! I mean y'all always eat healthy and drink water. Every time I try to run I die inside."

See you in the course,

Coulter Clement
