Morgan Claire Rose Signs With Ole Miss

Morgan Claire Rose of Kirk Academy committed to Ole Miss over the weekend. Her father tells us she's excited to run for Rebels coach Ryan Vanhoy and likes the direction the program is going.

Claire Rose is second to only Cory McGee, a Pass Christian (MS) High graduate and current professional runner for New Balance, in many areas.

And Claire Rose still has postseason XC meets to run and track in the spring.

In track, the senior is only behind McGee's 4:56.50 in the 1600 and 10:39.57 in the 800. Morgan is fifth overall behind Cory McGee's first place of 2:10.04.

In cross country, she is second behind -- you guessed it -- McGee, who ran 17:29.00 in 2010 at Foot Locker.

Claire Rose runs in the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools (MAIS), where she has won four cross country and 12 track state champion titles since the eighth grade.

Her cross country times might have been faster, but until this year the MAIS has only contested at 3200 meters. This year the MAIS moved to 4000 meters and the coaches hope to be at 5K by next year at the earliest. Listed below is her full profile.
