Mississippi Kennedi Sanders An Up and Coming Champion

By Larry Day

Kennedi Sanders is from Peak Performance Track Club in Madison, MS and has been running since she was 10 years old.  Competing at the USATF Junior Olympic Games in Greensboro, NC, she placed 2nd in the 100 meter dash and 4th in the 200 meter dash run with times of 13.46 and 27.59. The following year at the USATF Junior Olympics in Humble, TX at age 11 she competed in the 100 meter dash and placed 3rd with a time of 12.81. Last year at the USATF Junior Olympics in Jacksonville, FL she placed 1st in the 100 and 200 meter dash and 2nd in the 400 meter dash with times of 12.51, 25.35 and 57.44.

Along the way Kennedi is consistently breaking meet records.  She holds the meet records for 11-12 year old girl USATF Southern Championship in the 100, 200, and 400 meter dash. Also, she holds the 11-12 year old girl USATF Region VI 200 meter dash record. The 200 meter dash record that Kennedi broke was previously held by Bianca Knight.

So far this year she has run 11.98 in the 100 meter dash, 24.72 in the 200 meter dash. Wow!

Her goal is to come home with two gold medals from the USATF Junior Olympic Games this summer in Sacramento, CA.

Kennedi is still seeking donations to compete at the 2016 USATF Junior Olympic in Sacramento, CA. If anyone is interested in making a donation, an online page has been established for Kennedi at https://www.gofundme.com/283vgbgu.
