Day one a 1.5 mile walk. My dogs walked faster than I did. Out of shape but able to walk at a good pace. Will walk until I can cover 3 miles. At that point will start running with walks until I can go the whole 3 miles without stopping.

Anyone starting to workout after a long layoff make sure you check with your doctor to make sure you will not put yourself in danger. There are a lot apps out there that can help you get started. I use Map My Run but some others I know are using the From the Couch to 5K app. What ever you do start slow and gradually move to longer distances. You do not have to be training to run a 5K but just get off your behind and start doing something. You will feel better (eventually) and live longer.
