Corey McGee (south #6) and Katlyn Will Tie Up At MS State Bulldog CC Invitational

It was the hill says Cory Magee's Coach. We do not have hills like this on the Coast. The race between Cory Magee (Pass Christian) and Katlyn Will (Corinth) was close until the final down hill when Katyln took over and pulled away over the last 800 meters to a 28 second win. Katlyn's 14:52 equates to an approximate 18:35 5K. The new version of the Mississippi State course requires the girls to run a major hill twice when in the past they only ran it once early in the race. Many girls were not able to record year pr's due to the tough hills.

In the boys race Tupelo's Rob Ellis did not compete due to a minor injury but that did not stop teammate Max Holman and the Tupelo team from taking the individual and team first places. In the boys race the hills again played havoc on the times as many did not achieve season bests.

Many of these same athletes will compete at the Pearl Invitational next week.
