Louisiana Runners at MC Watson

 

Heat and humidity ruled the day at the annual MC Watson Ford Cross Country Meet in Clinton, MS. Overall times were thirty to forty seconds slower than expected. In the large school division, Madison Central bested the field with 91 points, averaging 16:40 for their top five.  St. Scholastic was the top Louisiana school, finishing 5th with 112 points. Carley Boyce was St. Scholastic’s top finisher at 3rd place with a 15:46 for the 4km course.

Boy's Varsity Start

In the large school boys division, Curt Knight, unattached, sprinted out to a fast first mile and led the entire way for the victory in 16:29. Saltillo won the boys division with 92 points. West Monroe boys finished 4th with 111 points, and Walker finished 5th with 122 points. The usually reliable James Turner of West Monroe finished a disappointing 15th place, complaining of stomach issues.  St. Thomas’s Aquinas finished 9th with 271 points

In the small school girls division, St. Thomas Aquinas finished third overall. Bobbi Amar led St. Thomas with a 16:15 for the 4km course.
